AIDS Vancouver and VPWAS are now Ribbon Community.

we support and empower.

Programs & Services

Our programs connect with diverse groups of people living with HIV, their families and friends, and HIV-negative people navigating sex and substance use.

We provide a mix of free programs and services in English, Spanish, and several other languages.

We do not require people to have health care coverage, Canadian citizenship, or an address. Many of our programs require confirmation that a person is living with HIV.

One on one services

Ribbon offers free programs and services to support and empower our communities.

Peer Navigation

Peer Navigators have been there too: sharing an HIV diagnosis, navigating sobriety and substance use, aging with HIV, and encountering stigma.

Case management for people living with HIV

Case managers connect people to benefits, services, resources, and practical support to live well with HIV.

Dental hygiene clinic

We can help take care of your smile! The UBC dental hygiene program offers a free, in-person clinic at Ribbon.

Income tax clinic

Volunteers trained by the Canada Revenue Agency file income tax returns for people with simple tax situations and modest income.

Counselling

Vancouver Black Therapy & Advocacy Foundation provides women living with HIV who are new to British Columbia with free, confidential therapy, online or in-person.

Case management for HIV prevention

Support for HIV-negative people to navigate sex, substance use, and HIV prevention.

Grocery and food security

We offer produce, protein, and pantry items to support and empower community members in living full, healthy lives.

Victoria & surrounding communities

We amalgamated with Vancouver Island Persons Living with HIV/AIDS Society in 2026, and together, we offer in-person services on Vancouver Island.

Financial Support

Funding towards medical needs, public transit, identification, gender affirming care, cultural needs, stable housing, and nutritional support during pregnancy and postpartum is available to eligible community members.

Community Voices

Many communities make Ribbon possible. Together, our voices and experiences challenge the HIV stigma that harms us all. Connect with us for expertise from people living with HIV and our communities.

Sex work drop-in programs

We operate a confidential evening drop-in program for male and gender diverse sex workers, and a weekly program known as Trans Lunch Club for gender diverse sex workers.

Substance Use Support

Ribbon Peer Navigators support people of any HIV status at the Rapid Access Addictions Clinic and in our regular goal-setting groups focused on rewarding change.

Camp Moomba

Camp Moomba is a peer support and education program for youth living with, and affected by, HIV in British Columbia.

Kids, Teens, and Young Adults

For young people born with HIV, or diagnosed with HIV as a teen or young adult, we offer peer support and group spaces to learn about living well with HIV.
