If you are looking for AIDS Vancouver, you are in the right place. We are now Ribbon Community.

Welcome to Ribbon Community, formerly known as AIDS Vancouver. In March 2024, we changed our name to Ribbon Community. We are Ribbon for short. We opened our doors as one of the first AIDS service organization in Canada, in response to the growing need for community health organizations to support individuals living through the AIDS epidemic.
We chose the concept of ribbon for our new name and look to pull the past, present, and future of the HIV response together, connecting the many communities that make Ribbon Community possible. Our logo is the red ribbon in the form of an r, rather than the ā€˜vā€™ shape of the original ribbons developed by a group of artists called Visual AIDS. Read the story behind our new purpose, values, name and look or watch the announcement that took place March 26, 2024.

Today, our purpose is to support and empower our communities in overcoming the impacts of HIV and HIV stigma. Our programs and services include peer navigation in 12+ languages for people experiencing substance use disorder and/or living with HIV, case management for people living with HIV and people who want support around an HIV prevention goal, the Grocery program, a financial assistance fund, a program to support people to age in place called Friends of May after our longest-serving volunteer, and a variety of events and programs, including some hosted by the Indigenous Committee.

Ribbon Community was founded as AIDS Vancouver in 1983. We changed our name in March 2024, choosing a name that pulls the past, present and future of the HIV movement together. We support and empower communities in overcoming the impacts of HIV and stigma.
