Our food security program is designed for all women living with HIV in BC, including transgender and cisgender women. We focus on dignity, cultural relevance, and choice. We currently operate in-person programs in Surrey and Vancouver, and work closely with other HIV organizations including Positive Living North to provide in-person services elsewhere in the province. Women who can access our program in person have the opportunity to select fresh and nutritious groceries in a market-style setup. For women who cannot access our in-person program locations, we provide customized emergency food boxes with a focus on cultural staples.
In addition to our food program, Ribbon Community also offers a Pregnancy Nutritional Supplement to pregnant people at different stages of their pregnancies, and postpartum.
We also host cooking parties that provide a space for community connection, learning, and shared meals as well as recipes.
We welcome new partners who are interested in working together to offer in-person food programming for women living with HIV outside the Lower Mainland. Reach out to our Program Coordinator Hadiza Umar at [email protected].
