Ribbon's programs and services take place on shared lands of Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples. These distinct and connected Peoples have a deep connection to the land, air, and water, a connection that shapes these Indigenous languages and cultures. These communities have always been impacted by, and part of, the response to HIV.
LONG TERM SURVIVORS AWARENESS DAY
June 5, 1-4pm at Ribbon Community Sockeye Room
June 5 was first observed in 2014 as a day to honor long-term survivors of HIV and raise awareness about their needs, issues, and journeys. Why June 5? It coincides with the anniversary of the first official reporting of what became known as the AIDS epidemic on June 5, 1981, when the CDC first reported on five cases of a mysterious disease affecting young gay men.
Long-term survivors of all ages and community members are invited to join us for the movie screening of RENT and enjoy a shared meal!
