GAMES IN THE LOUNGE

Cards and board games are available for all community members each Monday. Chat, connect, and enjoy coffee, tea, and various snacks. No RSVP required. This is facilitated by volunteer Matthew.

KITCHEN PARTY

Kitchen Party is a space for women living with HIV to gather and connect with food. Each month, a community member shares a favourite recipe with participants. This month, join us for a lesson by a community member on making pineapple fried rice!

SABIAN'S ARTS AND CRAFTS: January 13 starting at 11:30am

Sabian will be leading a free class. Join us for coffee and bannock, and learn to complete a tree star dream catcher. All materials are provided.

POSITIVE TALK: January 20, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

The team of peer facilitators work together to host a shared meal and an evening of fun with an exciting pumpkin carving contest.

Throughout the eveing peer facilitators offer dedicated spaces based on identities of those present, including Aarbic speakers, women, and African and Black people.

This is a free program. Ribbon provides dinner and bus tickets.

RIBBON ROUNDTABLE: January 21, 2-3:30pm

Throughout 2025, we connected with people living with HIV across British Columbia to identify top policy issues for Ribbon to prioritize in our GIPA/MEPA program. With three areas now identified - access to primary and specialist care, engagement of people living with HIV in decisions that about HIV, and HIV-responsive provincial support programs - we are bringing people together online again to as we get into these policy conversations more deeply with people living with HIV throughout British Columbia, as well as policy makers in elected government and the Ministries themselves.

CANDLE MAKING: January 28, 2-4pm

Come and join us for a free candle making workshop with Amiel. Participants will get to learn how to make their very own candle and customize the colour and scent to their liking. Instructions can be provided in English and Spanish.

DENTAL HYGIENE CLINIC: Wednesdays by appointment.

We are so pleased to have students in the UBC Dental Hygiene program back again this year to offer free dental hygiene services at Ribbon. Appointments will be taking place on Wednesdays at 10am and 1pm this year.  

Come and get your teeth cleaned at no cost. All work is done by students under the supervision of a certified instructor.

*NEW* Queer, Wise, and Inquisitive Collective for 2S/LGBTQIA+ people age 55+ 

Ribbon Community, Dignity Seniors Society, and the Community-Based Research Centre are pleased to introduce Queer, Wise, and Inquisitive Collective (QWIC). It is program for all 2S/LGBTQIA+ people age 55+ to learn community-based research skills that actually work for our communities. On Tuesday nights starting in January, about 20 2S/LGBTQIA+ people age 55+ will meet weekly and:

  • Connect with other 2S/LGBTQIA+ seniors who share your curiosity
  • Learn from leaders in community-based research
  • Build your skills and your network (plus enjoy a meal at each meeting!)
  • Make a real difference by addressing questions that matter to you
