Women's Memorial March

For Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit Folks

February 14, Downtown Eastside

 

From 12:00pm - 4:00pm, there will be speeches and public support at Main St. and Hastings for the victims and their families. The march will then take place, with several stops along the way.

 

From 4:00pm - 5:00pm, there will be a community feast at Japanese Hall (487 Alexander St.).

 

Love Positive Women

February 9 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM

 

Celebrate and love positive women! On February 9, there will be a dinner and dance party from 5-8PM hosted by-and-for women living with HIV, featuring mini-makeovers from MAC. This is part of a global celebration of women living with HIV.

 

Transportation support available within the Lower Mainland. 

 

Dress party-ready - your most comfortable and/or most beautiful outfits! From ball gowns to sweats, all are welcome!

Surrey Peer Groups

Each month, Joshna hosts two groups in Surrey for people living with HIV. All people living with HIV are welcome. Each group is hosted by a peer facilitator, provides snacks, hosts a draw for a prize, focuses on connecting people living with HIV. Transportation support is available to attend this event.

Cards & Board Games in the Lounge (Mondays)

February 2, 9, & 23 from 2pm

Cards and board games are available for all community members each Monday. Chat, connect, and enjoy coffee, tea, and various snacks. No RSVP required. This is facilitated by volunteer Matthew.

 

Arts & Crafts with Sabian

This month, learn how to make heart-shaped rattles! Sabian will be leading his monthly free arts and crafts class at Ribbon. Join us for community, crafts, coffee and bannock. All materials are provided at no cost.

Positive Talk

All people living with HIV are invited to join our team of peer facilitators. Throughout the evening, peer facilitators offer dedicated spaces based on identities of those present, including Arabic speakers, women, and African and Black people.

 

This is a free program. Ribbon provides dinner and bus tickets.

Trans Lunch Club

Tuesdays, 12-2pm

Trans Lunch Club is a free, community lunch for Two-Spirit, trans, gender diverse, and non binary sex workers previously hosted by PACE. Each week, we offer a meal, community space, and a draw for cash prizes for those who arrive by 12:45pm. While PACE is closed, Ribbon Community is hosting Trans Lunch Club, with the same facilitator, Gina and other Ribbon Community staff members as needed.

Youth Clinic (12-18 years)

February 5

The YouthCO x Ribbon Community collaboration at Oak Tree is open to all 12-18 year olds living with HIV. Peers will host the waiting room while youth see their doctors, get bloodwork, and connect with the dietitian and pharmacist. Youth get their regular HIV care during this clinic, and the added opportunity to meet other young people living with HIV. 

After all the clinic visits are complete, youth will enjoy a meal and an activity. For more information, please call or text Meryam (236-333-2975) or Millennium (236-833-0949).

This is the first youth clinic of 2026. Save the date for the following clinics - May 7, September 24 and December 10. Youth who join us in February will help choose activities for May, Sept and December 2026. See you there!
