Ribbon Community is holding space for World AIDS Day and Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week this month with Our Red Ribbon activities onsite and in the clinics, at a drag show on November 30 and again December 7 (at The Carnegie Centre), and at Tsawout First Nation.

December 1 (Tsawout First Nation): HIV/AIDS survivors from Tsawout First Nation are planning an important event to mark World AIDS Day and the first day of Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week taking place December 1 at 11am. All community members are invited to join this Recognition Walk. This will include Indigenous speakers, a walk to lay flowers on the graves of those who have passed away, and lunch. Karen Harry is the lead organizer and is working closely with her family and community members to honour survivors, commemorate those we have lost, and walk our journey to a brighter future. This event starts at 11am at 7728 Tetayut Rd Saanichton BC. We would be thrilled to have your presence at this event to recognize this stellar example of grassroots, Indigenous leadership within the HIV movement and to honour this community's journey with HIV.
December 1, 3 & 4: Reflect on the power of our communities and the red ribbon that brings us together. Share your take on the red ribbon by icing a cookie (while supplies last) and colouring sheets.
December 7: Free community drag show and roast beef meal at The Carnegie Centre, “Burning the Bannock;” hosted by Desiree, Knight, & Niis Miou. Doors open at 2:30pm, and the show begins at 3pm, followed by a feast at 5pm. Tickets required - connect with a Ribbon team member to secure yours!
